WE ARE AN IMPOSSIBILITY IN AN IMPOSSIBLE UNIVERSE.

RAY BRADBURY

The universe is everything. It includes all of space, and all the matter and energy that space contains. It even includes time itself and, of course, it includes us. When we reflect on the vastness of the universe, our lives can seem totally insignificant. If you think about the scale of the universe, each star is a mere little dot, and surrounding these hundreds of billions of tiny little dots are believed to be countless planetary systems just like our own. And yet, our galaxy is just one of the billions of galaxies in the universe. The wonders of the universe never fail to amaze us, space-inspired designs are as infinite as the universe itself, they've been inspiring artists and designers for a very long time and Möels 369 is our small-scale homage to the boundless universe that surrounds us.

the design

Our design philosophy is centred on minimalism. When we set out to design the 369, our focus was on achieving the same simplicity and design unity of the 528. We wanted every element to integrate seamlessly, showcasing only what's necessary. Similar to the 528, the 369 naturally became its counterpart, embodying the same modernity and elegance while achieving the right balance between form and function. Möels 369 stands out amidst a sea of lookalikes; it's an original design conceived from the ground up, and it represents a significant achievement in our journey.

the case

In our pursuit of differentiation, we've designed a case that defies conventional shapes, it's not round, square, tonneau or cushion – it's something entirely on its own. The soft barrel-shaped case, topped by a cushion-shaped bezel showcases a distinctive look. The 39mm surgical grade stainless steel case is brushed throughout with polished chamfered edges, it measures 46.50mm lug to lug and 12.25mm thick including the double domed sapphire crystal.

the BRACELET

The bracelet is crafted from surgical-grade steel, tapering from 22mm to 18mm, with a primary satin brush finish and polished beveled edges to match the case's finishing. Thin and lightweight, it consists of solid links along with half links, providing excellent articulation and making it easier to achieve the perfect fit on the wrist. The adjustable fold-over push-button clasp is compact, concealed, and practical, featuring a loop lever mechanism that allows micro-length adjustments without the need for any tools.

the CLASP

Watch bracelets with clasps featuring micro-adjustments offer unparalleled convenience and comfort to the wearer. The innovative loop lever mechanism provides precise length adjustments on the go, ensuring a comfortable and secure fit throughout the day. These tool-less types of clasps are commonly found on high-end timepieces and are favoured by those who appreciate the technical precision engineering and functionality that modern watchmaking can offer.

the caseBACK

A screw-in caseback offers superior protection compared to screw-fixed and snap-on alternatives. This design not only provides a tighter and more secure seal, enhancing the watch's water resistance and durability against impacts and mechanical stress, but it also reflects a high level of craftsmanship and precision. Screw-in casebacks are often perceived as higher quality due to their superior build quality and their ability to maintain optimal performance over time.

We wanted the caseback to tell a story so we designed a perforated plate that sits between the sapphire crystal and the movement to symbolise the cosmos. Through this perforated steel plate, we can see the gilt rotor that mimics the rotation of the sun. The '369' printed on the inner side of the crystal is our tribute to Nikola Tesla's fascination with numbers, particularly with the numbers 3, 6, and 9 holding cosmic significance.

39mm

When designing the 369, after extensive consideration, we opted for a 39mm case diameter. This choice was driven by the desire to create a timepiece that would fit comfortably on most wrists. The 39mm size was chosen for its versatility and longstanding popularity as an ideal diameter. It strikes a perfect balance, being neither too large nor too small, offering optimal wearability and allowing it to be worn comfortably by both men and women.

THE DIAL

A vortex is a mass of air or water that spins around very fast and pulls objects into its empty centre. Our solar system and the entire universe consist of a complex network of interlocking vortices sculpted by gravitational and centrifugal forces. Just as galaxies twirl and create mesmerising patterns, the 369 dial takes inspiration from this mind-blowing phenomenon. Encircled in perfect symmetry, the markers represent our artistic vision of the vortices that have been shaping the vast universe for eons, bridging the gap between science and art.

LUMEBLOCKS

Möels 369 was designed to cater to both dressy and sporty styles, making it a versatile choice for any occasion. The Stellar Collection offers dial variants with rhodium and gold-plated hands and indices, as well as luminous dials for optimal legibility in low lighting conditions. The markers of the luminous dials are made of Lumeblocks, which are crafted entirely from luminescent pigment. The markers charge up more quickly and last longer compared to the hands, which have a thin layer of lumen pigment applied on top. Despite this difference in afterglow performance, the 369's luminous dial offers excellent visibility, and the Lumeblocks add a contemporary look to the watch face.

THE crown

Most people usually don’t pay much attention to the crown of a watch, but here at Möels & Co., we do. Our 7mm serrated crown was custom designed to be functional and yet form an integral part of the distinctive barrel-shaped case. It's large enough and thanks to its asymmetrical design it's easy to grasp and turn, reflecting our commitment to both form and function in our timepieces.

200m/660ft

Diverging from conventional push-pull crowns, a screw-down crown employs a threaded stem with a rubber o-ring that forms an airtight seal, elevating the water resistance rating. This simple yet innovative design acts as an impenetrable barrier, effectively shielding the movement from water, moisture, dust, and other external substances. With our precision-engineered stainless steel screw-down crown, you can rely on a remarkable water resistance rating of 200 metres.

THE stellar collection

For the Möels 369 line-up we have expanded the metallic shimmer bandwagon from PANTONE® to ensure that we are capable of providing our customers with a richer variety of such unique colours. Metallic Shimmers are made of a pearlescent or silver metallic base mixed with a pigment coating that provides a brilliant and luminous finish. The STELLAR palette draws its inspiration from the enigmatic universe, mirroring the cosmic glimmers of distant galaxies and the ethereal shine of stars.
